Tell us a little about yourself and your family.
Hi! I'm Kenzie! I was born in Nebraska and moved to Kansas in 2010. I have three sweet babies, ages 7, 4, and 1. Outside of work and mom life, I love playing volleyball out at Volleyball Beach in Martin City. We stay busy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
What inspired you to start your business?
I have been cleaning for ten years now! I got my start working alongside my mom when she had her own cleaning business, and watching her build something of her own inspired me to do the same. Her passion became mine, and eventually I took that leap and started Luxe Cleans. It has been such a rewarding journey.
What does a typical day look like for you as a mom and business owner?
I wake up around 6am, get my kiddos dressed, and have everyone out the door by 7. I drop them off at school and daycare, then head to my first clean around 8:30. I am usually wrapped up between 4 and 5pm, then it's straight to pickup! When we get home, the kids are usually outside playing with dad while I get dinner going. It's a full day every day, but I love the rhythm we've built.
What has been the most rewarding part of running your business?
Seeing my clients' reactions when they walk into a home that looks and smells beautiful is something I never get tired of. There is nothing quite like that moment. Watching my business grow from the ground up has also been incredibly fulfilling. Every client, every clean, every bit of growth has meant so much to me.
What challenges have you faced balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship?
It is definitely not always easy being a mom and building a business at the same time! There are moments where you think, "What am I supposed to do? My kid is sick and I have to work today." At the end of the day, your kids come first, and I have been really fortunate to have clients who are understanding of that. Knowing they have my back in those tough moments makes everything so much easier to handle.
What advice would you give to other moms thinking about starting a business?
If you set your mind to what you want to do, you will achieve great success. It will be hard, but the harder you work, the more worth it everything becomes in the end. Believe in yourself and don't give up when things get tough. You are more capable than you know.
How do you like to spend time together as a family?
We love going to playgrounds and having ice cream dates! Finding hidden creeks to walk through and splash around in is always a good time. On gloomy days, we cuddle up on the couch and watch movies together. Simple moments, but they are our favorites.
