We’re excited to introduce this month’s Mom of the Month, Chelsey — a mom of two and the owner of The Party Edit. With a background in education and a passion for creating meaningful, beautiful celebrations, Chelsey started The Party Edit to help families turn special moments into unforgettable experiences. From birthdays to baby showers and milestone celebrations, she loves designing events that bring people together and create lasting memories.

Tell us a little about yourself and your family.
Hi! My name is Chelsey. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Mike. We have two children - Grayson (5) and Ivy (4).

What inspired you to start your business?
The Party Edit was born from my love of celebrating life’s little moments in a big, beautiful way. As a former teacher, I saw firsthand how meaningful thoughtfully designed environments can be — how they create joy, spark imagination, and bring people together. What started as creating magical celebrations for my own children and community quickly grew into a passion for helping other families elevate their most special milestones. The Party Edit exists to transform ordinary parties into unforgettable, elevated experiences filled with intention, creativity, and magic.

What does a typical day look like for you as moms and business owners?
No two days ever look exactly the same — and that’s honestly what I love most about it. My mornings start in full mom mode, getting my kids ready and out the door and a mental checklist already running. Once the day begins, I shift into my role at an early learning center, where I support staff, families, and operations. That work fills my heart and keeps me grounded in serving families and building meaningful environments for children.

In the pockets of time between meetings, classroom visits, and family communication, I’m also running The Party Edit — responding to inquiries, designing installations, sourcing materials, and planning upcoming events. A lot of the creative work happens in the evenings after my kids go to bed — sketching designs, building balloon orders, and preparing for weekend installs.

What has been the most rewarding part of running your business?
The most rewarding part of running my business is being trusted with people’s most important days. Families are inviting me into moments that mean everything to them — birthdays, baby showers, and milestones they’ll remember forever. It’s an honor to play a small role in making those memories feel beautiful and special.

What challenges have you faced balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship?
I’ve learned to prioritize what matters most, stay organized, and work ahead whenever possible. A lot of my business preparation happens after my kids go to bed, and I’ve built systems that allow me to serve my clients well while still protecting time with my family. I also remind myself why I started — my children were the inspiration behind The Party Edit. They are not separate from my business; they are the reason it exists.

What advice would you give other moms thinking about starting a business?
Don’t underestimate the value of what you bring to the table. Motherhood builds resilience, creativity, empathy, and problem-solving skills — all of which are powerful tools in entrepreneurship. You are more capable than you think, and starting something of your own can be one of the most empowering and rewarding things you do — not just for yourself, but as an example for your children.

How do you like to spend time together as a family?
One of our favorite little traditions is Jeep hunting — spotting other Jeeps and sharing ducks. It’s such a simple thing, but my kids absolutely love it, and it’s become a fun way for us to connect and make memories together.
