We’re so excited to introduce you to our October Mom of the Month: Becky Radiel, a wife + mom, high school teacher, and Red Aspen Independent Brand Ambassador with a heart for helping others feel confident. Becky’s journey is rooted in family, community, and the belief that pursuing your passions—while balancing motherhood—can be both empowering and fun.

Tell us a little about yourself and your family.

Hi! I’m Becky Radiel, a Red Aspen Independent Brand Ambassador, and I sell quality press-on nails and affordable clean beauty products that help you feel confident, glamorous, and totally YOU!

I live in Ottawa, Kansas, with my wonderful family. My husband, Dylan, and I have been married for just over four years, and we’re blessed with two amazing children: Dawson, who turned 5 in June, and Bridget, who turned 2 in January. We also share our home with three cats: Stripes, Squeaks, and our newest addition, Storm. Life is busy and chaotic, but we wouldn’t have it any other way—well, maybe with a few extra hours of sleep!

What inspired you to start your business?

I found Red Aspen during my postpartum time with Bridget. Postpartum will have you craving a passion and an identity outside of being a mom. Red Aspen gave me a community of women who were cheering me on, even when I struggled to find myself again. They talked about motherhood, hobbies, passions, trips, and sent silly memes back and forth. They hosted Trivia nights and had so much fun in their chats. It was inspiring to see their confidence come to life just by selling Dashes, makeup, and skincare products. I also had this new little baby girl in my arms ... I wanted to learn more for myself and be ready if my daughter ever wanted to embrace a “girly girl” side, even though I’m a tomboy at heart. I took the leap a little over a year ago, and I’ve never regretted it.

What does a typical day look like for you as a mom and business owner?

My day starts with drop offs for the kids; we have a first time kindergarten student and a new daycare for the other. Then I head to school to teach high school full-time. After school, I handle school pickups for both kids and head home to spend time with the family, offer snacks, and work on my business. I try really hard to schedule content ahead of time in my VIP Facebook group so I can stay present with those around me while still running my business.

What has been the most rewarding part of running your business?

As a teacher, I enjoy helping other people. Seeing other moms feel confident and beautiful using products I recommend is the best part. Hearing things like, “This face wash actually works and the price point helps with our budget” or “I don’t have to spend hours at a salon” is incredibly rewarding. It’s a joy to help others while exploring my own passions, which is clean makeup/skincare and Dashes.

What challenges have you faced balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship, and how do you handle them?

I have found that while this has been a pretty fun transition into running a business, there are still some hiccups. I am in direct sales and this type of business thrives with word of mouth, hosting parties online, or doing vendor events; all of which take strong relationship building skills. While I do think I have a good knack for that as a high school teacher, always being in ‘relationship building mode’ is mentally exhausting. I have found that putting my phone on the charger and physically walking away from it helps me disconnect and have time for my family.

What advice would you give to other moms thinking about starting their own business?

If you find something you’re passionate about, take a chance—even if it’s just for yourself. It can bring confidence, joy, and maybe even a little extra income. Don’t be afraid of the “what if”—being bold can lead to amazing opportunities.

I love our community and I am so glad I took a chance. If you want to take a chance on us, please message me and I will walk you through how to get started! We would LOVE to add you to our silly and light hearted community chat!

How do you and your family like to spend time together when you’re not working?

During the school year, we enjoy board games, reading, and outdoor play. (We can get pretty heated over Trouble!) Summer and holidays are for traveling to see family and friends. We’re excited for a Thanksgiving break trip to Branson (for the first time this year) for an extended family vacation and we can’t wait to explore local pumpkin patches this fall!

Anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

If you’re a mom struggling postpartum in any way, shape or form, know you’re not alone. Please reach out! I’d love to help connect you with resources and communities. I breastfed both of my babies for 2 years and I also found a really great community for that piece of my life that I would love to share with you. Being a mom is really hard, no matter how many kids you have, and something no one should have to do alone. Local to Ottawa or Gardner? Let’s meet for playtime—I’m always looking to make new friends for myself and my rowdy kiddos!
